Aug 3rd 2009 Pruning Tools
One of the necessary tasks that is going to have to be dealt with on a regular basis is pruning. Just about every gardener who is serious about his garden enjoys the process of pruning and learning to do it the right way will help your shrubs, trees and bushes to flourish.
Using the right tools is going to make the pruning process even more enjoyable. By equipping yourself with tools that are in sound working order, pruning will be something to look forward to rather than something to dread.
Start with a good pair of hand pruners. If you’re even more serious you’ll have a couple of pairs, bypass bladed pruners and anvil bladed pruners. These will be used to cuts stems that are less than half an inch in diameter.
Loppers are used for cutting larger branches up to around two inches in diameter. A tree saw will be required for any branches larger than those suitable with the other cutting tools. A tree saw is designed to be pulled when making the cut.
To reach higher branches and stems, pole pruners are available and they are available in combination saw and pruner models. These pruners have extendable poles that can generally reach up to a height of around 12 feet.
Once you have equipped yourself with good quality pruning tools, it is just a matter of looking after them, keeping them clean and rust free and sharp and you will find that pruning is an enjoyable task to do on a regular basis.
